Dr. Swanwick was the Launch Editor for Autism Reading Room and currently acts on the core team which manages the site. She also writes for its “Genetics” and "News in Context" sections.
She earned her B.S. from Duke University in 1999 and her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Virginia in 2005. She then conducted five years of postdoctoral research at the National Institutes of Health before joining the MindSpec team in 2010. Her early laboratory research focused on the development of synapses in the hippocampus, a brain region important for learning and memory.  At MindSpec, Dr. Swanwick performs bioinformatics research to identify common pathways for autism risk genes in the brain. Throughout the course of her career, she has published nine research articles, two commentaries, and three book chapters.
